  • What are the requirements to use eConnect?

    You need an eBike from our company, an eConnect retrofit kit and a compatible Y-cable (depending on motor type), the app (Haibike eConnect) and a mobile data contract. In addition, it might be necessary to buy a compatible skidplate with respective predrilled hole.
  • How can I create an account and register my bike?

    The registration can be made via app or web portal. You can download the app in Google Play Store or in the App Store by entering "Haibike eConnect" into the search bar. Alternatively, you can register via the web portal on www.econnect-haibike.com. In this case, please keep your eConnect card ready.
  • What are the requirements to register my eConnect system?

    You need the frame number and the drawing number of your eBike and the eConnect card. On this card you will also find your registration code. Note: The frame number and the drawing number can be found on the frame at the end of the down tube or by removing the battery.
  • What devices can the app be installed on?

    The app can be installed on all Android and iOS smartphones. The app is especially optimised for iOS from version 9.3 and for Android from version 5.0. Of course, the app can also be installed on former versions, however, this may have an adverse effect on some functions of the eConnect app.
  • Has anything changed for 2019 models?

    Yes, for all 2019 eBike models offered with eConnect, the eConnect key will be no longer part of the delivery and is not available in the aftermarket or in retrofit kit. That means you can activate and deactivate the theft protection exclusively via the app.
  • Which eBikes can be retrofitted?

    All Haibikes with the following motor types can be retrofitted: Bosch motors from Gen. 2 Yamaha motors PW/PWSE/PWX All S-Pedel models and bikes from other producers are excepted.
  • What is included in the eConnect retrofit kit and where can I buy it?

    The eConnect retrofit kit includes an OBU and an eConnect card for registration. This kit can be obtained from one of our listed specialist dealers (see dealer search) who is authorised to make the installation.
  • How is the base charge of the support battery performed?

    In order to perform base charge, a total charging time of 25 minutes has to be achieved and since the support battery is charged by switching on the display of your bike, it is important to comply with the guidelines as this differs depending on the motor type. Yamaha motors: switch on the display five to six times Bosch motors: switch on the display three to four times FlyOn motors: switch on the display two times Tip: Put the bike outside and do not move it in order to charge the support battery more quickly and achieve a stable GPS and mobile phone connection.
  • How long is the contractual term of eConnect?

    With date of eBike registration, the contract runs for 24 months. Regarding retrofit kits, the contract is concluded for 36 months with registration. Afterwards you have the possibility to extend the contract.
  • May there occur any additonal costs within the contract term?

    There are no additional costs ocurring during the contract term, even if you take your eBike into non-approved countries.
  • How can I extend my contract after termination of the contract term?

    You will be informed via app or by mail. You can extend the contract for another 36 months for a one-time fee of 99.00€.
     
  • Do I need a mobile contract with Deutsche Telekom?

    No, you don't need a contract with Deutsche Telekom. The system applies to any other mobile contract, as well. However, the eConnect system runs via the mobile network of Deutsche Telekom.
  • Is the firmware's version up to date?

    If you have a bike of 2018 or higher, the firmware 1.2.5 and all retrofit kits are the latest version. All former models and retrofit kit do have the firmware 2.2.5.

  • Does eConnect also transfer data from or to the drive unit system?

    With Yamaha models and with our new Flyon models, the battery status of your eBike and the estimated range with regard to your last selected support mode is displayed in the app. Special highlight is that the drive unit system is updated via eConnect with all Flyon models.
  • Is it possible to delete push notifications in the app?

    Unfortunately, this is not possible at the moment, however, it will be available with one of the next updates.
  • Why are small sections of my route missing?

    Tracking is performed via the mobile network of Deutsche Telekom with a timing of 15 seconds. If you are in a dead spot in this moment, it might be possible that a part of the route was not tracked due to lack of network coverage.
  • My routes are not recorded, what do I have to do?

    With eConnect 2.0, only the manual route tracking is available, this means that you start and stop the route yourself. In addition, you have the possibility to give a name to your route and store it after finishing.
  • Is it possible to cancel the crash message?

    Yes, you have the possibility to cancel sending of the message by the stop button which is activated via push notification within the waiting time defined by you.
  • Who is the message addressed to?

    The message is addressed to the emergency contacts that you defined. You can define max. two emergency contacts.
  • Is it possible to temporarily deactivate the crash message feature?

    Yes, you can deactivate this feature via app in the emergency settings.
  • Is it possible to use use various eBikes in one account?

    Of course, you have the possibility to control and monitor various eBikes via the app.
  • Does eConnect work even if the battery of the bike is removed?

    Of course, it does, as the OBU is equipped with a separate support battery which works independently of your bike.
  • How long the function can be maintained by the support battery?

    If the eBike is not moved, the eConnect system switches into stand-by mode after five minutes. In this mode, the support battery lasts for 6 months. As soon as the eBike is moved, the support battery will be immediately charged automatically.
  • Is it possible to dismount the OBU without triggering the alarm?

    No, this is not possible as the motion sensor integrated into the OBU reacts extremely sensitively to vibrations.
  • How does the eConnect warning system work in case of possible theft?

    In the first warning level, a push notification is sent to your smartphone by the system with the text "My Haibike was moved". In the second and acute level you receive a push notification when the eBike was removed and you thus have the possibility to determine the location of your bike via live tracking in the app.
  • Is the transmitting unit waterproof?

    The OBU is dust- and waterproof according to so-called IP67 certification. This means that that it can be submerged in clear water up to max. 1m and for max. 30 minutes (Not possible with other liquids, e. g. salt water, soapy water, etc.).
  • What do I have to do if I want to sell my bike with eConnect?

    Consider that the contract term does not start all over again, but the term is transmitted to the new owner of the bike. For instance, if you registered on 15th January 2018 and want to sell your bike on 24th November 2018, the new owner can use the eConnect system for free until 14th January 2020. Please also note that the bike has to be deleted from your account which can be easily made in the app.
  • In which countries does eConnect work?

    eConnect can be used in the following countries: Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, French Guiana, Gibraltar, Greece, Great Britain, Guadeloupe, Ireland, Iceland, Isle of Man, Italy, Channel Islands, Croatia, La Désirade, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Marie Galante, Martinique, Mayotte, Monaco, Neatherlands, Northern Ireland, Norway, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Réunion, Réunion & Mayotte, Romania, Saint Barthelémy, Saint Martin (french part), San Marino, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Czech Republic, Hungary, Vatican City, Cyprus.
     
  • What happens if I am outside these countries?

    In this case, the OBU has no server connection and thus the functions are not available However, there will be no additional costs.
  • Is my data safe?

    We are convinced that transparency is the key to a good relationship. Not only the protection of your privacy but also the processing of your personal data is a very important to us. We process personal data collected when using eConnect in accordance with the data protection regulations.
